SLJ: Faded Glory

  1. Hey Amanda!

Well done for completing another Summer Learning Journey activity, 'Faded Glory', and for coming up with some amazing ways to help raise money to support the Great Barrier Reef! I really appreciate all of your suggestions, but most of all I like how you've taken the 'educating' approach over the fundraising of money. Although raising money helps, educating others and raising awareness of what is happening is much more effective. The Australian government needs to take action before coral bleaching completely damages the Great Barrier Reef and destroys the habitat of so many species along with the ecosystem.

The Great Barrier Reef truly is beautiful, I had the pleasure of diving there back in 2011 and 2012— and the colour is sensational! I also got to swim with sea turtles and it makes me sad to think that their habitat is at risk. How can we encourage the Australian government to take action?

I look forward to your response!

    Thanks,

    Jordan

    1. Hey Jordan :)

Educating children at a young age about the environment would be able to make a big difference in the future! The future generation would take more notice to the environment if we educate them and mention the small, terrible things humans caused to make a bigger problem.

I think the Australian Government would need some educating themselves! I'm not throwing any shade or anything towards their government but I think I'd tell them how lucky they are to have such a beautiful reef in their country. They're wasting such a beautiful place that New Zealand could have!

  2. Talofa Lava Amanda,

I am thrilled of what you have be doing for the last couple of weeks (blogging). I am currently commenting and as you don’t know I am a further away from you, I go to Pt England School which is located in East, Auckland. I am searching for more bloggers and suddenly I came to your magnificent blog, I really love this post made by you as there are so many ways to protect our Great Barrier Reef, Amazing points you have made by the way. I really like #Number 2’s suggestion as it is us damaging our Barrier. Overall I really enjoyed the post made by you, it was recommended to lots of us and I really hope that we start doing something about this problem. What can you do to help fundraise for this issue? Anyways thanks for the post Amanda, stunning work. Enjoy your holidays.

    From,
    Hinerangi

Thank you for every kind things you have said! I really like #2 as well even though it's kinda sad to know that our environment and animals are slowly suffering because of our careless doings. I mean we can't just tell people to 'STOP' because some people can be a bit harsh on agreeing to protect the environment, you know?

In my opinion I think it should be mandatory for schools to educate children about the wonders of our planet and how lucky we are to have end up here so later in the future they'll know how important it is to keep our planet safe and protected.

I believe that the future generation will take much better action if we educate them now.... Educating children more about the environment is something I'd do to protect it because I think it'd do much better help and I'm not really good at thinking about ideas on how to fundraise for this issue.

Thank you for commenting on my blog, I'll make sure to do the same for yours! Enjoy the rest of your holiday Hinerangi :)

      Goodbye,
      Amanda
